Santa Spirito Basilica

The Santo Spirito Basilica is extremely close to our Airbnb. The piazza (square) in front has a market everyday. The taxi driver warned us with a firm point, "Pickpockets. Attenta!" So we thought it was an area to avoid and maybe just some old smaller church. No! It was also built by Fillippo Brunelleschi. Construction began in 1434 and finished in 1481. It houses many incredible art works from the 14-16th centuries. Silence is requested as you move through the nave and chapels and no photography is allowed inside.

There is also one of Michelangelo's statues, a crucifix given as a gift to the monks for the opportunity to stay there and study. It dates to about 1493.

Pietà di Giovanni Lippi, called Nanni di Baccio Bigio is there at the entrance.

Parole del Oggi (WORDS of the day)

zucchero - sugar. Henry likes Coke Zero because it is senza zuccchero (without sugar). The side of the can says "Zero Zuccheri, because the "i" on the end makes it plural, talking about more than *one* sugar.

riciclami - recycle me

vorrei - I would like

bicicleta - bicycle. We got a bike for Henry today!

voui provarla? - do you want to try it? The old man that we bought Henry's bike from doesn't speak English. He got the bike out for Henry and asked if he wanted to ride it. This was a great phrase for me because it's two words, and even a combined form word with provare (to try) + la (it) and I was glad I understood it!
